Anthony Joshua beats Joseph Parker to win third world heavyweight boxing title

ANTHONY JOSHUA has taken a swipe the critics picking fault with his performance against Joseph Parker.

And on the possibility of a Joshua, Deontay Wilder fight, Lewis added: "The dynamics of a Joshua, Wilder fight will be quite different for both fighters who are used to punching down on shorter fighters". Joshua looked for his nearly Lennox Lewis style right uppercut.

Anthony Joshua & Joseph Parker have a stare down.

Joshua's knees buckled from a counter right hook late in the 11th, after hurting Parker. "There are a few things I have to work on and I look forward to a rematch". He did show Joseph respect, rightly so.

Parker hurt Joshua early in the sixth but the referee calls time.

As the fight progressed, Fury became still more critical and said that the fight was proving to be a waste of people's money.

Parker appears to be cutting a trimmer figure these days. Joshua said the fight has to take place in the United Kingdom, something Deontay Wilder hasn't shied away from in the past. It must be time for Joshua-Parker.

Those include a bantamweight showdown between Ryan Burnett and Yonfrez Parejo for the WBA (Super) title in the division and a heavyweight contest between Alexander Povetkin and David Price.

Parker, 26, who is from South Auckland but trains in Las Vegas, was busy with a flicking jab in the first round, although most fell short. Many will question if he is big enough to worry the likes of Joshua. Joshua will eventually land some convincing right hands, prompting a fight stoppage.

The Northern Irishman still won easily with all three judges.

With good looks, Herculean muscles and a ideal 20 knockouts in 20 professional bouts, Joshua has quickly become one of the sport's biggest global stars.

The cut round Parker's left eye worsened and blood emerged from the wound in the tenth round.

Lighter was not necessarily better for Joshua, who weighed in almost a stone less for his last fight against Carlos Takam. Flanked by his team, the British fighter is all smiles. I'm looking at Joseph Parker, who is a lively challenger. His mother, Sala, is already positioned ringside, with around two hours until the fight.

And someone's "0" has to go. Joshua had a 6-inch reach advantage and Barry said his fighter was not allowed to fight up close when he got the chance.

In the build-up, much has been made of Joshua's career-high weight of 18st 2lbs in defeating Carlos Takam last time out.

But ahead of the fight at the sold-out Principality Stadium, Wilder's comments about killing someone inside the ring sent shock waves through the sport.

'I think Wilder would come over here because in the world we live in, in boxing, the couple of million dollars Wilder is getting for a fight is pretty small fry in comparison to the rewards that await him for a Joshua fight.

The fight is scheduled to start at about 0930 GMT.

Being a multiple champion brings with it a range of mandatory fights.
