"For the last four years I've had top tens but I haven't been close enough to the lead". "I am who I am". I think when you're playing in the final group in a major there's always going to be pressure, but when I parred the first that settled me down so it wasn't as if nerves got to me. McIlroy, trying to complete the career Grand Slam, added to his star-crossed Masters history with a final-round 74 and tied for fifth. So much so that Reed emulated it.

Reed and McIlroy are indelibly linked to that Ryder Cup singles match at Hazeltine some 18 months ago when they traded big putts and uppercuts until Reed prevailed on the 18th hole. And by including a women's tournament during Masters week, the powers that be at Augusta National made a major move that will become a part of Masters tradition, greatly impact the future of the game and are set an important example for all.

"The best player ever to live when I was growing up wore black trousers, a red shirt", Reed said.

"They're doing a new thing where all the players stay in the same kind of story line", Reed said Thursday.

The biggest thing was I put too much pressure on myself.

Reed's breakthrough victory in the majors is further evidence the golf gods are asking tougher questions than they ever have.

Accusations have been traded on social media between Reed's wife Justine and his sister Hannah about the cause.

Reed denies that he cheated. He's the fourth different player age 27 or younger to win a major over the last four majors played.

Reed once claimed after winning a World Golf Championship at Doral that he was a top 5 player in the world, which subjected him to ridicule.

Captain America is now the Masters champion.

"I saw Jordan and Rickie storm up those leaderboards", Reed said. You know, I stand by my comments. I knew it was going to be a dogfight. I had no idea. "I left everything out there on the golf course", Fowler said.

Spieth is an 11-time PGA Tour victor but has struggled missing the cut in his past three starts at THE PLAYERS. In 12 previous Masters, he has never finished in the top 10, has missed the cut four times (including last year), has a scoring average of nearly a stroke-and-a-half over par and had broken 70 just three times in 40 rounds.

The following year, Reed came second to Bubba Watson in an ESPN players' poll ahead of the Masters which asked 103 tour professionals which player they would not help in a fight in the vehicle park.

"I am a little disappointed that I did not hit my irons as well as I needed to".

There's certainly no glass ceiling to the American's ambitions.

But while Fowler has posted a few wins and put up numbers in his eight years as a touring pro he hasn't been able to pull off a win in a major even though he's had his chances. Gone was the fixation with hitting "the ideal shots". "But, you know, come back again next year and try". "I had my caddy remind me of that the entire week", he reflected. "That's just the flows of golf, you just have to handle it". According to, you also get a five-year exemption on the PGA Tour, and another five-year exemption for the other majors: U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship. If you aren't happy about something, it's all right.
