Cosby´s chief accuser `seeking justice´ in sex trial

Bill Cosby Retrial

Cosby tried to help Constand break into the broadcast industry because she studied communications at the University of Arizona.

"I did not get any answers", she said.

Constand's lawyer, Troiani, who negotiated the settlement for Constand in 2006, also has denounced the revelations about it and blamed Cosby. She recalled that Cosby woke her up by clapping his hands loudly and repeatedly saying, "Daddy says, 'Wake up!'" He says it was consensual.

The Associated Press doesn't typically identify people who say they're victims of sexual assault unless they grant permission, which Constand and Thomas have done.

Constand's lawyer, Dolores Troiani, told reporters the attacks on her client are "outrageous" and "baseless", and she ripped Cosby's team for trashing Constand's reputation in the courtroom - where lawyers are immune from defamation lawsuits - and in statements to the media.

Lasha testified that Cosby had made her feel "special" when she was a teen. "I remember something warm hitting my leg", she said.

According to Lasha's testimony, she met Cosby through family members who were acquainted with him.

Turning to Cosby, she made the remark that suggested he remembered the encounter.

Cosby starred as the lovable obstetrician Cliff Huxtable on the popular series that aired for eight seasons from 1984 to 1992.

Under cross examination, Thomas testified that she chronicled her trip to Reno in a scrapbook and recorded a cassette tape at the home where she had the encounter with Cosby.

O'Neill had blocked Jackson from testifying at the first trial.

Thomas was reading a monologue of a character who was drunk, so Cosby persuaded her to drink white wine. In a prelude to that culture shift, some 50 women accused Cosby of molestation going back decades.

Cosby's attorneys are expected to cross-examine Constand, including about the almost $3.4 million settlement she received. She said Cosby stopped her as she went to leave: "All he said was there's a muffin and tea on the table and then, "All right" and then I left".

Constand was on the stand for an hour and four minutes, before the prosecution steered her toward the night in question, when she went to Cosby's house to discuss her impending resignation. She said Cosby gave her three blue pills and said they would help her relax.

Troiani was peeved at the defence for fighting to disclose the settlement figure to jurors in what she said was a clear violation of the confidential settlement agreement between Cosby and Constand.

They said they accepted wine or pills from him which later immobilized them.

At 4 or 5 the next morning, Constand awoke to find her bra up around her neck and her trousers half unzipped, she testified. She told Cosby she was stressed.

Lasha and Thomas were the first of five additional accusers expected to testify.

In the first trial, which ended in a mistrial due to a deadlocked jury, only one other accuser besides Constand was allowed to testify.

Chelan Lasha, one of six woman scheduled to testify for the prosecution that Cosby drugged and assaulted them, told the court that Cosby allegedly molested her in 1986 when she was just a teenager.

Rochelle explained her actions outside the courthouse as symbolic, stating, "I can use my body as a political statement and not just a sexual object, like he did to other women".

The actress said several of the women who accused Cosby of drugging and raping them reached out to her after seeing her controversial protest earlier this week. She alleged Cosby assaulted her in Nevada 34 years ago.

Andrea Constand began giving evidence on Friday at the courthouse in suburban Philadelphia.

Cosby's attorney asked for a mistrial, but the request was denied.

She told jurors she wanted to include details about the assault, but Mr Cosby and his lawyers pressured her to tell a highly sanitised version in which there was no sex at all, let alone a rape.

On Thursday, Allred got into a verbal scuffle with Andrew Wyatt and Ebonee Benson, Cosby's bombastic spokespersons, as a mob of reporters watched.

Andrea Constand's testimony on Friday makes for a climactic courtroom showdown after five other women told jurors that the man once revered as "America's Dad" is a serial rapist who harmed them too.

It's the second time Constand confronted Cosby in court.

The 80-year-old comedian is charged with drugging and molesting another woman in 2004.
