Rain, Possible Severe Storms this Weekend

Mayor James Sanders

East Texas has a very moist and warm air mass in place. However, a few showers are developing west of the Mississippi Delta.

In addition to the severe weather risk we may also see some areas pick up heavy rainfall, particularly across Louisiana/Arkansas.

While rain and storms will likely be sparse, any development will have the potential to be severe.

Rain, storm and severe storm chances Sunday. Highs on both Saturday and Sunday won't get out of the 60s and, as Space City Weather so adroitly describes it, "Sunday morning will probably be Houston's coldest until November." .

The cause of the threat is a strong cold front slated to move through the Lowcountry late in the day on Sunday, Meteorologist Joey Sovine said.

A few more clouds will move in to block out more of the sun. Expect cooler temperatures with weekend highs in the 50s and 60s.

A clean design lets you quickly and easily keep up with the ever-changing Kansas weather. Temperatures by Monday morning will be in the low 40s. Don't put that winter coat away just yet! But the good news is at least most of our Saturday will be on the quiet and enjoyable side of things with partly sunny skies, clouds increasing through the afternoon. However, a north and northwest wind still sustained at 15 to 25 miles per hour will keep wind chills in the 20s and 30s during the day. This will allow for more of a southerly wind than in previous days, keeping the morning and afternoon warmer and more humid. Gusts as strong or stronger than 50 miles per hour are possible throughout the afternoon that can easily toss around loose objects outside. There's a slight chance of isolated showers in the afternoon. Some large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats from the storms. Between a tenth and quarter-inch of rain is possible.

EXTENDED: Saturday morning shows cooler and breezy conditions to start the weekend.

Scattered mountain snow and valley rain will stick around Tuesday, with temperatures topping out only in the 30's and low 40's. Chilly lows north around 44 and south around 51.
